Our long-time member and beloved friend Walt Taylor passed away on May 16, 2017. Our love and condolences go out to his wife, our dear friend Dot, as well as the entire Taylor family.
Walt was a member of the American Dahlia Society (ADS), past president of the Rhode Island Dahlia Society (RIDS), our ADS Representative and flower show chairman for many years. He was a passionate grower and an ADS-accredited senior judge. He will be remembered for his strong convictions and the many contributions he made to our organization.
Walt was also a member of the RI State Grange, Slocum Grange and Pomona Grange. He coached DeMolay baseball, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the Washington County Fair Committee and a member of the South County Rod & Gun Club.
Walt worked as a surveyor for the State of Rhode Island for many years until his retirement and operated Never Enough Thyme Farm with Dot. He was the Past Master of Washington Lodge #5 F.&A.M. of North Kingstown, member of Harmony Lodge, the Oddfellows of East Greenwhich, a 4-H All Star, and a 4-H Leader.
Walt served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and continued to support the veteran community as a member of the American Legion and was an active member and Adjutant of Post 12 in North Kingstown.
Walt was a man of integrity who touched many lives.
