In this introduction to the Rhode Island gem, Blithewold Mansion, Gardens, and Arboretum, Director of Horticulture Dan Christina will discuss site selection, soil development, and other considerations in the establishment of a new dahlia garden.

Experienced growers will demonstrate how to take cuttings and will share various seed starting methods.

This will be an introduction to using beneficial insects and nematodes to control common garden pests.

A great opportunity to learn how to stage and show dahlias and see a beautiful display.

"58th Annual Rhode Island Dahlia Society Show" including the 2nd Annual Dahlia Photography Show.

The largest dahlia show in Rhode Island is a colorful display not to be missed! Also, it's a great opportunity to learn about the many forms of dahlias. Admission is free.

"Storing Your Tubers for Winter"

 

 

We will demonstrate dividing tubers for storage and popular methods of packing both divided tubers and tuber clumps for the winter.
